Our Story

Studio Raasclaat is a modern Jamaican cultural house documenting the people, places, objects, and stories that shape the Jamaican experience at home and abroad.

We believe luxury is heritage that has been cared for and passed on.

For generations, Jamaican culture has shaped music, language, style, and design around the world. Yet many of the everyday objects, places, and traditions that carried that culture forward have rarely been treated as things worth preserving.

Studio Raasclaat exists to change that.

We document the familiar before it disappears. A school crest stitched onto a uniform. A domino table worn smooth by decades of conversation. Hand-painted shop signs. Georgian streets. Dancehall flyers. Family photographs. Objects that have traveled with Jamaicans around the world. These are more than memories—they are records of a people.

Every garment, object, publication, and edition begins with research into Jamaican life, translating cultural memory into contemporary design with care, restraint, and permanence. We are not interested in nostalgia for its own sake. We are interested in continuity—ensuring that what has been inherited can continue to be worn, shared, and passed on.

Many of us are the first or second generation raised beyond Jamaica. We have inherited more than stories—we have inherited a responsibility.

The traditions, objects, language, craftsmanship, and ways of seeing the world that shaped us do not preserve themselves. They endure because each generation chooses to care for them, reinterpret them, and pass them on.

Studio Raasclaat exists as part of that work.

Rooted in Jamaica and shaped by the diaspora, Studio Raasclaat is both an archive and a design practice—a place where heritage is preserved, interpreted, and carried forward.

By documenting Jamaican life at home and abroad, we hope to ensure that the thread connecting past, present, and future remains unbroken.

Because culture is not only something we remember.

It is something we continue to make.
